• Glue: wood glue; used only sparingly and at critical points, or – depending on the variant – the parts are joined without glue

Our spice jars are made from two layers of birch bark. The outer layer (in technical terms, the “shirt”) is either stained or left natural, depending on the variant. The inner layer is neither glued nor stained. It is inserted into the body and, due to its natural tension, fits snugly against the “shirt,” ensuring a good seal. The two birch bark layers are either sewn together or glued at certain points, depending on the variant. The trays are made entirely of birch bark or feature a wooden base.

Care Tips

Birch bark is a fairly low-maintenance material. However, if you occasionally apply a little linseed or rapeseed oil to the outside, your spice jars will retain their beautiful appearance for many years!

For light soiling, simply wipe with a damp cloth or rinse with lukewarm water. For heavier soiling, rinse the jars with vinegar and lukewarm water, then allow them to dry thoroughly.
