Medieval Square Lamp – 100% Handmade!
The square lamp is handmade by us. Rest assured – each lamp is unique, possessing its own character and mood. Crafted with great skill and love, these medieval lamps are made to last for generations.
We use various types of fruitwood and hardwood (e.g., plum, yew, apple, etc.).
The lamp’s frame is made of beechwood sticks, covered with rawhide from goat, wild boar, cattle, deer, and horse, and sewn together with waxed cord. We are very careful in selecting the rawhide for each lamp, as the hide of each animal has its own patterns, textures, and degree of light transmittance.
Also included is a handmade candle holder and a hemp or sisal cord.
The square lamp is ready to use.

Care
The medieval lamp requires little care. The wood can be treated with a hard oil. If desired, you can also treat the rawhide with it (externally). This makes the lamp more transparent and brighter.
Tips
- Use tealights – they have an optimal flame height and go out if the lamp tips over (fire safety).
- Never use pillar candles – they contain a very high oil content and have an outer plastic layer that can catch fire.
- From time to time, remove soot deposits from the inside of the lamp.
