Soft Suede, Naturally Tanned. Made in Germany
We are pleased to offer soft suede for your craft. Especially for you, we will prepare a piece of material in the size you require.
Our suede is distinguished by an especially gentle production method: we use the technique of vegetable tanning, thanks to which the leather contains no chemicals whatsoever and is absolutely safe – while retaining its strength for decades!
Suede is available in various colors (if the desired color is not in stock, we will inform you and adjust the delivery timelines).
The material cost depends on the area of the cut piece!
You can also order ready-cut pieces of suede here
Production
After thorough preparation of the raw material, including delicate removal of the hair covering, we proceed to the key stage – vegetable tanning. This traditional method, unlike accelerated chrome tanning, uses natural extracts (for example, oak bark), which allows the leather to retain its natural, “breathable” properties and gain exceptional durability.
Each stage of production is accompanied by strict quality control. Only leather that has passed it is put up for sale.
At the final stage, the material surface is sanded, creating a perfectly smooth and porous structure. This provides two key advantages:
- Deep penetration of the soaking: Our special lubricant based on natural components firmly binds with the fibers, ensuring reliable and long-lasting water-repellent protection.
- Natural comfort: Thanks to the preserved porous texture, our suede has high air permeability. This means that products made from it are comfortable to wear in any weather, effectively wicking away moisture.
Properties of Suede
Soft suede is a material possessing characteristics of one of the most valuable materials in the world. Among them:
- Porosity and “breathable” properties: despite the density, products made of suede have good ventilation thanks to porosity.
- Durability and wear resistance: Over the years, vegetable-tanned suede only becomes stronger due to the compaction of the structure under load, natural polishing of the leather from wear, as well as care products.
- Effect of noble aging (patination): Over time, soft suede changes color, acquires a noble sheen, and a unique pattern of wear.
- Heat resistance: Does not melt at high temperatures, which is important for some types of work.
- Repellent properties: After impregnation with wax or grease, suede becomes water-resistant. This is its key feature – it does not get wet but repels water, while continuing to “breathe.”
Areas of Application:
- Footwear and accessories: many value suede footwear for its durability, comfort, as well as its ability to “breathe” and “adapt” to the foot.
- Sports equipment, gear: horse harnesses, gloves, holsters – if you want something to last for ages, then only from suede!
- Furniture, interior: upholstering furniture with suede is an excellent solution if strength is important, and at the same time you want constant renewal: over time, suede acquires an increasingly noble appearance.
- Book bindings: For expensive editions, albums, diaries. Vegetable-tanned leather is durable, does not damage paper, and ages beautifully.
- Cases, covers for musical instruments: Musical instruments cannot tolerate moisture and are quite fragile, therefore we consider a case made of soft suede to be the ideal solution for a musical instrument case.
