Wooden Blanks from Local Bavarian Wood Species

We carefully and thoughtfully select the wood for our blanks — perfect for any type of woodworking. The material comes from trees grown in Bavaria.

Description

1 ordered unit = a blank 1 cm in length (at your chosen height and width) = price per unit (accordingly, 2 units = a blank 2 cm in length, and so on)
Maximum blank length is 15 cm (for longer blanks, please contact us by email)

Important: If you do not leave any instructions regarding the splitting of longer blanks at checkout, they will be divided by default into a 15 cm blank + a blank of the remaining length. For example, if you order 18 cm, you will receive 1 solid 15 cm blank + 1 solid 3 cm blank.

Apple (sapwood and heartwood) (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.75 g/cm³)
Pear (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.65 g/cm³)
Cherry (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.61 g/cm³)
Apricot (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.80 g/cm³)
Walnut (light and dark) (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.68 g/cm³)
Yew (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.65 g/cm³)
Thuja (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.39 g/cm³)
Black locust (Robinia) (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.73 g/cm³)
Plum (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.80 g/cm³)
Oak (average density at 12–15% moisture content: 0.69 g/cm³)

Important!

The average density value indicates the hardness of the wood — the higher the value, the harder the wood

Why Our Blanks?

Our wooden blanks are made from local German (fruit) trees. The photos show blanks treated with linseed oil
The wood has been carefully dried for at least 6 years. We personally select, inspect, and cut each blank
Like most of our raw materials, we use these blanks in our own production as well
The blanks are easy to sand, rasp, turn on a lathe, and carve

How to Use the Blanks?

A wooden blank is a true playground for your creativity. In our workshop, we most commonly use them to make the following items:

Tips

If you are new to working with wooden blanks, we recommend ordering longer and wider blanks — this will give you more room for error
When sanding, it is advisable to start with coarse sandpaper and gradually move to finer grits
