Originally, such drop signs were made from solid wooden sticks combined with linen, rawhide and lots of glue. This technology produces robust but also heavy signs. Later in the era, the shape was retained, but metal was increasingly used. Today, most signs are made of laminated wood. This ensures a certain stability, authenticity and lightness of the shield. To be honest, not all of today’s knights and showmen could hold up a real shield for very long in a field battle. Our signs are manufactured as described above. In addition, however, we still use the old composite technique with lines. This gives our drop shields even greater stability and many a fierce blow from a frenzied warrior can be warded off without much damage.
